Rose’s Cantina has been the leading legend of Amsterdam for her Mexican cuisine and cocktails since the opening in 1982. There would not be a better time for Jim Dobson & Daniel Uzcudun to partner up with Casper Reinders then at this moment and together they will bring the old Rose’s Cantina to the now, with a surprising Pan American international menu and interior.
Casper Reinders, who won restaurateur of the year, is a club owner, designer and collector. He has a deep passion for traveling and he already shared his experiences when he took us through a journey of design and taste, by his other venues in Amsterdam. Such as Club Jimmy Woo, which started in Asian style and was transformed in to a rarities showcase with skulls and unique interior.
We experienced the exciting flavours of Morocco at Bocinq, enjoyed the beautiful balanced French cuisine of Lion Noir, which won best interior design award, danced at Chicago Social club and had great cocktails at Ludwig. So yes, we now invite you to embark on Casper’s new journey to the new South America with Roses cantina: Cocina Pan Americana.
This latest addition to the Tao group is designed by Casper Reinders himself, and Thijs Murré. Thijs is known for surprising unique designs inspired by cultures, fashion, film, art, photography and traveling. He’s worked on designs of beautiful private interiors besides his projects with Casper such as Lion Noir, Ludwig and now Roses Cantina. Casper and Thijs are an extraordinary team in finding the most original pieces, with a longer or recent history of time, but never pre-fabricated. There is always a soul and a story to tell, with every little treasure that you see in their interior, so it can’t be copied or duplicated. Even the paint is an original recipe to create the perfect unique shade. The combination is an eclectic perfection combining items through out time into a perfect vision in the present.
Submerge yourself in the unique interior of Roses Cantina with it’s comfortable leather couches and chesterfield chairs while enjoying a special Tequila cocktail like the delicious jalapeños margarita in the bar and lounge area, before you enjoy Spanish cooking in a new dimension. In our restaurant side, which can seat about 120 covers and which offers an area that can be separated for groups of 50, you can taste the resulting dishes, including the Mexican street salad, ceviche or the Rose’s special burger. And then, when dinner is finished, you go up to the tequila library, which offers a unique menu of special tequilas and margaritas, and enjoy a game of pool with your friends.
You see, you are welcome for a complete night. This is Rose’s Cantina now: the innovator of new style Pan American food. Not only taste, but a whole experience.
ROSE GOT A FACELIFT
Never ask a lady if she’s had work done; cause sometimes a gal wants a little nip or tuck after 31 years of hard working, hard drinking and fast living. And who are we to judge?! After all, doesn’t Rose look great? And doesn’t her cantina look pretty dazzling too? And it’s all thanks to Casper Reinders and Thijs Murré, who gave Rose (and her cantina) a fresh new look. Inspired by Mexico’s diverse regional culture and cuisines, they and their partners from the Tao group put the spark back into Rose’s step and the spice back into her cocina (that’s kitchen to you and me!). You could say they’re the lime to her tequila…
OVER 30 YEARS OF SPICY FOOD & COLD BEERS
Rose’s Cantina—Amsterdam’s first Mexican restaurant—opened her doors in 1982. And, after more than 30 years of serving up spicy food and cold beers, we are proud to introduce you to Rose’s stylish new look and delicious new menu; inspired by dishes from all over Latin America with a liberal dose of Mexican to honor Rose’s heritage!
Rose’s Cantina is open 7 days a week, so you are always welcome to drop by for a cocktail, bocadito, dinner with friends, or to dance the night away with our live DJ’s sets every weekend.
THE ESSENCE OF ROSE
Spicy food. Cold cocktails. Hot tracks. Rose has got her groove back. Since opening her doors in 1982 Rose’s Cantina has been the hot spot for Latin-American cuisine and cocktails in Amsterdam. That is until the fateful day when Rose fled south of the border in search of the perfect tequila and a mysterious man named Xavier, leaving her cantina behind.
Enter Jim Dobson, Daniel Uzcudun and Casper Reinders, who recently found her in a bodega in Tijuana. On that fateful night a lot of tequila was drunk, a lot of secrets were unearthed, and a lot of promises made. And in the light of the bodega with the Mariachi playing softly in the distance they discovered the real Rose they thought long lost—a diamond in the rough.
All Rose needed was the help of good friends… and a really good makeover. So who better than Casper Reinders and Thijs Murré to get Rose sparkling again? Known for their award winning designs at Lion Noir and Bar Ludwig, Reinders and Murré specially curated the new Cantina’s interior to tell the compelling story behind Mexico’s ancient and modern cultures. The result? An inviting space filled with unique treasures that evoke the true essence of Rose.
The same attention to detail went into planning the new menu, which is an eclectic blend of Latin American flavors—both in the kitchen and the bar. Like Rose always says: “fresh is best”. So, our team carefully selects the freshest ingredients and use only freshly squeezed juices for your cocktails so that you’ll enjoy the freshest, brightest flavors, the way Rose intended them to be.
